DIEJ Leader Cohort

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice Leader Cohort

An opportunity for Executive Leaders to advance their capacity to integrate diversity, equity, inclusion and justice principles and practices into their everyday leadership.
May 19, 2021 -January 19, 2022

INCREASE SELF-AWARENESS.
STRENGTHEN CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE.
BUILD ORGANIZATIONAL DEIJ CAPACITY.
Join Capacity Building Partnerships in an online, in-depth Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice (DEIJ) Leader Cohort for executive leaders. Build your DEIJ capacity in partnership with a learning community of leaders who are also deeply committed to equitable outcomes at an individual, organizational, and systems level. All sessions will be held on Zoom.

Over nine-months the Cohort will engage in a deep and multi-faceted program designed to meet you where you are in your DEIJ journey - from new awareness to deep-lived experience. We will use a range of learning approaches and leverage the diversity of knowledge and experience in the group, while advancing participants at all levels.

This DEIJ Leader Cohort is designed around Capacity Building Partnerships’ collective experience with hundreds of leaders and organizations who have partnered with us. As a participant, you will engage in a comprehensive experience that will challenge your mindset, advance your leadership, deepen your DEIJ analysis, and build your leadership to implement and integrate DEIJ into the fabric of your organization.
The collective impact of this cohort, guided by the excellent team at Capacity Building Partnerships, has brought the power of humility, deep listening and courageous candor into focus as I engage in conversations on justice and leadership. The journey is messy, it’s compassionate, and at it’s core it is about personal transformation and how we show up in the world. As leaders, aren’t these the most fundamental questions we should be asking ourselves?     ~Jessica McDonald, Greenbelt Land Trust

INCREASE, EXPAND, STRENGTHEN YOUR DEIJ LEADERSHIP

LEARNING OUTCOMES
  1. Increase self-awareness about your own cultural and social identity behaviors, and expand your understanding of how they impact interactions and power dynamics.
  2. Build capacity to identify, manage, and mitigate biases in the workplace, while increasing confidence to address specific diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice challenges.
  3. Deepen awareness of historic and systemic forces of oppression, exclusion, and privilege and learn how to use a peer environment to support others.
  4. Build individual, group, and systemic capacity to hold complexity, step into the unknown, lead with curiosity, and build a foundation of trust.
  5. Build your capacity to manage the often-turbulent equity and inclusion organizational change processes, both the organizational climate and management system, and within the client and services delivery systems.
IS THIS PROGRAM FOR ME?
This program is designed with executive or high-level leaders in mind. In our experience, often as people climb the hierarchical ladder, they experience isolation. In response, this cohort connects you to people who are also interested in working on DEIJ leadership challenges. We expect participants will have substantial decision-making authority around their organization's DEIJ policies. If you are unsure if your position is the right fit, get in touch with us! We’d love to hear from you.

Limited to 20 participants.

Here we gather as a Learning Community to develop capacity to advance DEIJ in our leadership and organizations. Our approach is discussion-based drawing on the wisdom of participants for deeper dialog, with breakout groups throughout the session.

Group Coaching Sessions (Four, 3 hours each)
Each participant will be a part of a smaller "Applied Learning Group” in the form of a group coaching session. These sessions are scheduled in between the workshops to support one another around real-life DEIJ issues and implementation challenges.

One-on-One Coaching (Four, 1 hour each)
The coaching sessions provide a supportive environment where questions are welcomed and encouraged. The focus is on your development and adjusted to meet your needs. You may work through personal dilemmas, think together about your leadership, or bring up other DEIJ and leadership challenges.
