Letter to Our Community

Dear Community,

In this difficult and complex time of the COVID19 crisis, we are holding you, our community, in our thoughts and sending well wishes your way.

At Capacity Building Partnerships, we’re all working from home, caring for our families, and practicing “physical distancing with social connection”- we’re working on connecting with our friends, family, and community despite the needed physical distance.

Capacity Building Partnerships continues to be in operation, and we are dedicated to working with you to ensure your team is supported, and that our work with you continues to unfold in ways that are appropriate. We are innovating our approaches to find ways to bring our training, consulting and facilitation services online to support your work from a distance.

While this virus does not discriminate, our systems and institutions do. Disenfranchised communities will be impacted at a disproportionate rate. Those experiencing systemic disadvantage including some elders, people of color, people experiencing houselessness, poverty and some people with illnesses and compromised immune systems will be hit in even more drastic and devastating ways. We are in this together and it is as important as ever that we are aware of how our actions are intertwined with systems of privilege and disadvantage. How we behave makes a difference.

In the face of all of this, we remain hopeful. We’re learning about how the earth can heal quickly from the slowing of human movement and production. People are finding connection and community despite physical distance. Scientific innovation is occurring. Community is showing up for one another economically by finding small ways to support their beloved small businesses.

This does not in any way skew the crisis as positive, but it is encouraging to see how humans are able to care for one another in times of darkness and find creative solutions to impossible challenges. As large-scale policies are implemented to address the impact of the pandemic, let's use our influence to make sure policy implementation is liberating and not domesticating!

This crisis will impact individuals, teams and organizations. We will need time and space to heal and grieve as a community. We are with you. We are thinking of you. Please reach out anytime.

Warmly,
Capacity Building Partnerships
